The Truth About Green Tea And Weight Loss

Tea has been a well known weight loss drink for decades, low in calories and containing a variety of protein and enzymes that are beneficial to our health. Today we have a closer look at green tea. The relationship between green tea and weight loss is grabbing more media attention over the last few years.

In today’s society people seem to be constantly obsessing over their weight and the way they look. They continue to look for and try all sorts of radical methods to help them lose as much weight in as little time as possible. We’re living in an age in which faddy diets, crash diets, and celebrity endorsed supplements and programs are almost literally shoved in our faces by advertising companies, promising extreme weight loss in short periods of time. 9 times out of 10 these programs, supplements, and diets are not effective, and if they do result in people losing weight, they’re not considered healthy or viable.

In order to lose weight in a safe, healthy, and controlled fashion, we need to ensure that we’re consuming plenty of healthy, nutritionally balanced, natural foods and drinks, which are used in conjunction with a healthy lifestyle. Green tea for instance, is considered one of the healthiest beverages on the face of the earth, for a number of reasons, one of which being the fact that it helps us to lose weight. Here’s a look at how green tea and weight loss are related:

Green tea helps to mobilize fat from our fat cells

One of the things that makes green tea so effective for weight loss purposes is the fact that it actually helps to mobilize fat in our bodies from our fat cells. Green tea contains caffeine and antioxidants. It is both of these substances that can increase fat burning processes in your body as shown in a study here.

In order for body fat to be burned off, it must first be broken down in our fat cells where it is then transported into our bloodstreams. Studies have shown that caffeine assists in this fat burning process. It triggers lipolysis where it breaks down fat into fatty acids and releases them into the blood stream.

Antioxidants in green tea (namely EGCG) causes an increases the amount of the hormone norepinephrine which is used to send signals to the fat cells to burn and break down more fat, making fat burning hormones in our bodies that little bit more effective.

Not only does green tea help increase the fat burning process but it also helps reduce weight gain by stopping sugar getting into your fat cells, resulting in a reduction in body fat.

Green tea helps us to burn more fat during exercise

Obviously we all know that in order to burn fat we need to get plenty of physical exercise and activity. Well, if you were to take a look at some of these fat-burner supplements available on the market today, and you were to examine their ingredients, you would find that almost all of them contain some form of tea, or tea extract in there. Green tea has been found to be one of the most effective teas when it comes to burning fat during exercise. In one particular study, men who consumed green tea before exercising were found to burn 17% more body fat than those who didn’t consume any. Another study recently revealed that green tea can also increase the metabolism, meaning that not only do you burn more calories during exercise, but you also burn more when resting too.

Green Tea boosts metabolism

The rate in which the food we eat or drink is converted into energy is what we refer to as metabolism. Even when we sleep our body is constantly working and burning the calories in our food into energy. Our metabolic rate is just slower during rest and increases during exercise. Several studies have shown that green tea and weight loss occur as a result of the green tea containing compounds and enzymes that help boost metabolism, and therefore helping you burn more calories off your body.

Green tea naturally suppresses the appetite

Another key benefit of green tea and weight loss is the fact that it has been found to naturally suppress a person’s appetite. Studies have shown that green tea lowers a person’s blood sugar level, thus reducing cravings for foods. Obviously if we’re less hungry we will consume less food, and if we consume less food we will ingest fewer calories as a result. Not only does green tea suppress the appetite, it has also been found to help reduce hunger pains and cravings as well, meaning we’ll be less likely to cheat on our diets by craving unhealthy junk foods.

Green tea is a diuretic

Diuretics is the term given to drugs that help promote and increase the production of urine. Green tea is known to be a diuretic and removes unwanted and excess water from your body. This process helps you lose more water weight and makes your body feel less bloated.

Overall, there have been studies suggesting that green tea and weight loss are heavily related. However, the results are only mild and green tea alone should not be the only factor to consider when wanting to lose weight. Nevertheless, green tea also does have other health benefits and is a great substitute for drinks especially if you are on a low calorie diet or intermittent fasting diet. Just make sure to keep the full benefits of the green tea by refraining yourself from adding sugar or too much flavor to your tea.

Any individual with a poor level of fitness due to an inappropriate body weight can achieve and improve his fitness level by making some necessary changing in his eating habits and lifestyle. In the lines below, some affordable diet tips have been shared, which really works if a man interested in losing his extra body weight and to improve fitness level.

Weight Loss Tips

Point to Start: Weight losing is the game of commitment and confidence. Start your weight loss by defining a small, realistic and realizable goal such as “I will shed from 2 to 5 pounds this month by following my plan and exercising,” instead of setting an unapproachable, impractical or unrealistic goal like “I will lose 3 stone by next month.” Your defined goal will help you to go on the right way and get immediate results.

Gradual Changing: Losing weight is not a static but a continuous process which needs slow and steady changing in foods and patterns. So, each week, change one good habit to a healthier one. Do it weekly. For instance, this week change from 2 sugars in your tea to 1. Next week will cut down to 1 and then cut it out completely in the coming week.

Non-Sweet Breakfast: Never leave your breakfast and eat a non-sweet or just slightly sweetened cereal every morning for breakfast. Shredded Wheat and Bran Flakes are better choices.

Adopt a Continuous Dietary Pattern: Dieting doesn’t end when you got an appropriate and desired level of your body weight. Your diet is what keeps you slim, and needs to be healthy, so make lifestyle changes rather than short-term ones.

Portion Distortion: Most people underestimate their intake, and take in more calories daily than they think. Break out the food diary and, for one week, measure what you eat and make adjustments if necessary based on your daily eating plan.

Eat Your Meal Slowly: Eating too fast usually means eating more than you need. Give your brain time to catch up with your stomach: It takes about 20 minutes to feel the food, so savor your food. When you enjoy it more, you’ll be satisfied with less.

Slimming or Diet Tea is best: Drink slimming tea instead of coffee for a mid-morning pick-me-up: it may have immunity-boosting properties. Diet tea is also a good choice instead of coffee or milked tea.

Popcorn: Spend in a hot air popcorn popper. It’s just as quick as microwave popcorn, and it makes a fiber-rich, guilt-free snack without the Trans fat or cholesterol.

Go Without: Try to swear off all fried foods for the next couple of months. Keep away yourself all types of junk foods because they don’t meet your nutritional needs properly.

Powerful Rule: Adopt “on the side, please” as your rule when dining out. This applies to salad dressing, sauces and gravies.

Avoid from Over Eating: Completely leave the clean plate club. Eat as much as your body need, and if you’re full, then stop and take the rest for a snack or meal tomorrow.

Be Wise and Active: Read nutrition labels, and ignore the beautiful pictures. Just because there’s a picture of fruit on the package doesn’t mean there is fruit in the package. Some examples of this misleading packaging are fruit drinks and fruit yoghurts.

Don’t Be Disappointed, there is a Hope: Even if your mother, father and siblings are overweight, you can outsmart your genes with a healthy diet and exercise. Light weight training can actually change your body type so you can stay slim more easily.

Dietary Supplement: We all need a motivational weight loss, boost from time to time. Keep a pot of carb blockers or fat blockers handy for the occasions when you just can’t resist the urge to eat those foods you know you should not.

Build Muscle: Replace fat stores with lean muscle and improve your fat-burning naturally. Start gradually, and work up to at least three days a week of training with resistance bands and light weights. Before starting your workout must consult with your physician.

What Are the Benefits of Drinking Lemon Juice in the Morning?

Lemons have long been a popular ingredient in cooking, flavoring for sweets, and in drinks such as lemonade. Aside from this, regularly drinking lemon juice in the mornings can provide a whole range of health benefits.

Liver Detoxification

Drinking lemon juice regularly each morning helps to cleanse the liver. It does this by stimulating it to produce bile, which helps to break down food efficiently. By drinking it first thing in the morning, it prepares the liver for digestion throughout the day. It also helps to break down gallstones, which are made from calcified bile.

Better Digestion

In spite of its acidic content, if the juice of the lemon is diluted with hot water it helps to ease digestion and can relieve the symptoms of heartburn and indigestion. By combining with ginger, it can reduce gas and bloating. Lemon juice also can ease constipation.

Healthy Skin

Lemon is a natural antiseptic, therefore drinking it daily can help to remove blackheads and other forms of acne. Its high antioxidant level means it helps to prevent wrinkles from forming, as well. Wrinkles are caused by free radicals, which can damage otherwise healthy cells. Antioxidants destroy the free radicals responsible for this.

Weight Loss

Drinking lemon juice on an empty stomach first thing in the morning can help people who are trying to lose weight. By flushing out toxins and keeping the liver healthy and clean, it speeds up the metabolic rate of the body. This means that the liver metabolizes fat more efficiently, and the body burns fat faster causing weight loss.

Cold and Flu Prevention

Lemon juice contains vitamin C, an important antioxidant known to aid the prevention of infections, colds and flu. Vitamin C helps the body to absorb iron, which is essential to maintaining a healthy immune system, as it helps to form red blood cells and muscle protein. Another important property of vitamin C is that it destroys free radicals in the blood, which can cause inflammation and cell damage. Drinking lemon juice regularly helps to prevent these ailments.
